FAQs
-
“Hanging weight” is the weight of a cow’s carcass after it’s been slaughtered, with the head, hide, hooves, and organs removed, but before it's cut into individual pieces.
-
The 'take home' weight of a whole beef is approximately 400-450 lbs, depending on the animal. For a half beef, it’s about 200-250 lbs. We'll provide an estimate as close as possible upfront, but please keep in mind that final weights may vary. We won’t have an exact number until the butcher confirms and your order is ready.
-
You’ll need roughly 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 25 lbs of beef. A whole beef requires about 14 cubic feet, half needs 7 cubic feet, and a quarter will take up about 3.5 cubic feet.
